  • Hubungan antara Infeksi Odontogenik dan Spektrum Total Karies Gigi dengan
Oral Health Related Quality Of Life pada Anak Disabilitas Intelektual
    Afina Sabila - 160421200012
    ABSTRAK
Anak Disabilitas Intelektual (DI) memiliki perkembangan intelektual, dan adaptasi
sosial yang lebih lambat daripada anak normal. Mereka memiliki prevalensi karies
keterlibatan pulpa hingga infeksi odontogenik.
menggunakan indeks CAST (Caries Assesment Spectrum and Treatment), sedangkan
Oral Health Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) terhadap anak DI.
Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu Total Sampling, didapatkan 43 subjek anak DI
sebanyak 51,16% termasuk morbiditas berat. Analisis multivariat terdapat hubungan

Correlation between Odontogenic Infection and Total Spectrum of Dental Caries
with Oral Health Related Quality Of Life in Children with Intellectual Disabilities
    Afina Sabila - 160421200012
    ABSTRACT
Children with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) have slower intellectual development
and social adaptation than normal children. ID children have higher rates of
untreated caries and often develop odontogenic infections. Children with ID have a
higher rate of untreated caries and often progress to caries with pulpal involvement
or odontogenic infections. The total spectrum of dental caries is a description of the
condition from healthy teeth until they are lost due to caries, which can be assessed
using the CAST index (Caries Assessment Spectrum and Treatment), while
odontogenic infections can be assessed with the PUFA index (Pulp Ulcer Fistula
Abcess). Dental problems often have an impact on quality of life, so an Oral HealthRelated Quality of Life (OHRQoL) assessment is needed for ID children.
The aim of this study was to identify and analyze the correlation between
odontogenic infection, the total spectrum of caries, and OHRQoL in ID children. The
research method used was an analytic survey using the OHIP-14 questionnaire. The
sampling technique, namely Total Sampling, obtained 43 ID child subjects who met
the inclusion criteria. The data were tested statistically using the Spearman
Correlation non-parametric test and the t-test.
The results showed that the average value of odontogenic infection in the
population was 1.79, including in the poor category, and the total spectrum of dental
caries was 51.16%, including severe morbidity. Multivariate analysis showed a
significant correlation between odontogenic infection, total spectrum of caries, and
OHRQoL; odontogenic infection with total dental caries spectrum was significantly
associated with each p-value = 0.0000, while the correlation between OHRQoL and
both odontogenic infection and total caries spectrum had p-values > 0.05,
respectively, so it is considered not significant.
This study concluded that odontogenic infection in ID children is a poor category.
The total spectrum of dental caries in ID children mostly includes severe morbidity.
There is a correlation between odontogenic infections, the total spectrum of dental
caries, and OHRQoL, as well as between odontogenic infections and the total
spectrum of dental caries, but the correlation between OHRQoL and odontogenic
infections, as well as OHRQoL and the total spectrum of dental caries, is considered
    not related, respectively
