• Introduction: Poor oral health among hearing impaired children has been frequently reported due to health care neglect and communication barrier. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of visual and tactile toothbrushing method on the plaque index of hearing-impaired children. Method: The research methodology used was comparative method. 44 hearing impaired children aged 6-14 years old from SLB Cicendo were randomly categorized into two groups, one group was educated using pictures and the other group was educated using dental model. A trained dentist examined all participants using Patient Hygiene Performance (PHP) plaque index pre-test and post-test. Data obtain was analysed using 2 sample t-test, independent sample t-test and Mann Whitney U test.
