Lips called as labia are fleshy folds which will be surrounding the opening of human mouth. Growth of lips is unique and there will be very little changes during the rest of the development. The study of lip print is known as Cheiloscopy. The aim of the study is differentiating the lip print patterns of male and female students of FKG Unpad 2014 using alginate impression material
The study method used was descriptive and stratified random sampling. The study was conducted at FKG Unpad on 12 boys and 68 girls from batch 2014 FKG Unpad. Lips impression of the subject was taken using alginate and made a cast to interpret the lip print pattern using Suzuki and Tsuchihashi classification. The data was presented with simple frequency distribution table.
The result showed that the highest number of lip print pattern for male is dominated by Type I with a percentage of 25.00% and for female is Type I� with a percentage of 29.78%. The overall dominant lip print pattern for this study is Type I� with a percentage of 28.75%.
The conclusion indicates that the dominant lip print patterns in male is Type I and for female is Type I� and the overall dominant lip print pattern for this study is Type I�.
