  • Periapical Radiography is one of the radiography examination where it in the procedure, it needs film holder and film to get an optimum radiographic image. Insertion of film holder and film in the mouth give stimulation towards salivary gland. The purpose of this research is to differentiate the salivary volume pre- and post-insertion of film holder periapical radiography at Instalasi Radiologi Kedokteran Gigi, Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut, Universitas Padjadjaran.
    The method used is comparative analytical of 30 samples which were subjected to take periapical radiography. Technique used to insert the film and film holder in the sample�s mouth is parallel technique. The method used to collect the salivary volume is spitting method.
    The results for the 30 samples averagely for salivary volume pre-periapical radiography is 1.19mL (SD±0,264) and for salivary volume post-insertion of film holder periapical radiography is 1.69mL (SD±0.272).
