  • Gingivitis is the earliest form of periodontal disease affecting human of all ages commonly due to plaque accumulation on tooth surface. However, limited data available today addressing epidemiology of gingivitis in Bandung. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of gingivitis in Bandung.
    Methodology design of this research was descriptive with cross-sectional study. Total 400 respondents representing Bandung population from UPT Puskesmas of each Bandung region including Garuda, Puter, Kopo, Ibrahim Adjie, Griya Antapani and Margahayu Raya were participated in this study. Data were collected by conducting intraoral examination using CPITN index besides recording data which included basic information, knowledge and factors promoting gingivitis.
    The result of this study showed that total 222 respondents have gingivitis.
    This study conclude that in overall, the prevalence of gingivitis in Bandung is 55,50%.
