 <note>This thesis entitled Thematic Progression in Hillary Clinton and &#13;
Donald J Trump in Economic Speech on US Presidential Election. It has two &#13;
objectives: first, it is aimed at finding the types of thematic progression which are &#13;
used in Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump speech on US Presidential Election. &#13;
Second, it is aimed at describing the elements of themes used in Hillary Clinton &#13;
and Donald Trump speech on US Presidential Election. In analyzing data, the &#13;
writer used the framework proposed by Halliday and Bloor T. Bloor. The results &#13;
ofthis research reveal that (1) there are 49 clauses in Hillary Clinton speeches that &#13;
showing simple and multiple thematic progression. The simple thematic &#13;
progression types are identified as constant theme, linear theme, derived theme, &#13;
and split rheme. The multiple thematic progression types are identified as &#13;
combination of linear theme and split rheme, combination of constant theme and &#13;
linear theme, and combination of split rheme and constant theme. Meanwhile, it is &#13;
found that there are 37 clauses in Donald Trump speeches that showing simple &#13;
and multiple thematic progression. The simple thematic progression types are &#13;
identified as constant theme, linear theme, and derived theme. The multiple &#13;
thematic progression are identified as combination of constant theme and linear &#13;
theme. (2) Hillary Clinton uses all elements of ideational themes. Regarding &#13;
interpersonal themes, Hillary Clinton uses all elements of interpersonal themes, &#13;
they are modal adjunct function to express her judgement related to the content of &#13;
the message. Vocative functions to get attention of the hearer or reaffirm the &#13;
speaker-hearer relationship, and Wh-interrogative. The last, among three kinds of &#13;
elements of textual themes, Hillary Clinton uses all elements of textual themes, &#13;
they are continuative, conjunctive adjunct, and conjunction. Donald Trump use &#13;
all' elements of ideational themes except thematic equative. &#13;
