  • The regional seminar, "Language Education in Multilingual Societies: Its Challenges and Potentials", organized by the SEAMEO Regional Language Centre from 18 to 22 April 1977, was in fact the first of the Centre's seminars for 1977-81. During this period, the second five-year phase in the Centre's development, seminars and conferences are no longer restricted to the teaching of English. Not being confined to this delimitation, the Centre can make more meaning-ful contribution to the language and sociocultural development of Southeast Asian countries.
