The Queenslad Plateau, a large fragment of Australian continental crust lying more than 1000 m below sea level off northern Queensland, was covered by extensive marine geophysical traversing jn 1971 and tested by stratigraphic drilling in the same year. This Bulletin presents the results of stratigraphic mapping of the Pleateau using the acoustic stratigraphy available from seismic reflection profilling tied to the drill site. The sedimentary and structural history of the Plateau is deduced and compared with generalised models of rift-margin evolution; considerable depature from the 'norm' is demonstrated. -
