  • "In the late-childhood stage, children are in a wider social environment and tend to
    spend more time in social interactions than in previous developmental stages.
    Therefore, social skills are important at this stage of development so that children
    can establish relationships with others and adapt to environmental demands. The
    purpose of this study was to obtain empirical data on the social skills of regular
    late-childhood students in inclusive elementary schools, especially at Sekolah
    Alam Tangerang using quantitative descriptive methods. The total number of
    subjects are 59 regular students aged 10-12 years (M = 10.92, SD = 0.816) at
    Sekolah Alam Tangerang grades IV, V, and VI by used total sampling as the
    sampling technique. Data were obtained using the Indonesian version of the
    Social Skills Improvement System (SSIS) measuring instrument with a total of 24
    statement items that have been proven valid based on confirmatory factor analysis
    (CFI = 0.916, IFI = 0.917, TLI = 0.908, GFI = 0.943) and expert judgment
    (S-CVI = 0.833) and reliable with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.870. In addition,
    this study also analyzed supporting data obtained from interviews with teachers
    and the deputy principal of the curriculum section of Sekolah Alam Tangerang to
    obtain a broader and more in-depth discussion. Data analysis was conducted
    using descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the social skills of
    regular late-childhood students in inclusive elementary schools at Sekolah Alam
    Tangerang were in the high category. These results indicate that regular students
    at Sekolah Alam Tangerang have a good ability to carry out social interactions
    such as entering into peer groups, having conversations, making friends, or
    playing with their peers."
