Salah satu kalimatnya adalah :”it is important that ecologists should understand how to measure diversity and what they mean by it. Diversity lies at the root of some of the mostfundamental and exiting questions in theoretical and applied ecology. For instance, a great deal of effort has been devoted to explaining why there are systematic, and predictable latitudinal patterns of diversity (Pianka, 1983; Krebs, 1985;Begon et al.,1986) and why diversity is so closely associated with area (Mac Arthur and Wilson, 1967; Williamson, (1981).
