Since the measurement of decentralization and regional disparity becomes one of the main difficulties of this research, both are discussed extensively and different measurement concepts are elaborated. The findings of this study are that a high degree of decentralization assuming other things are being constant has something to do with high interregional disparities. By using the panel data set from 2005 to 2012 by provincial base, the positive effect of fiscal decentralization on interregional disparity is found to be statistically significant in Indonesia. The result presents new empirical evidence that fiscal decentralization may increase regional inequality.
